Welcome to Little Hooves Academy--where our youngest equine students take their first steps to becoming confident, respectful partners! This groundwork-focused program is designed specifically for weanlings and yearlings, teaching them essential skills like leading, tying, grooming, picking up feet, light desensitizing, and learning to trust their handlers. With patience, positive experiences, and age-appropriate lessons, I can help set the stage for a bright future--one hoofprint at a time!
Colt-Starting
Have a young horse ready to begin their riding journey? My colt starting program focuses on creating a solid, respectful partnership from day one. I specialize in starting horses under saddle with patience, consistency, and clear communication--no shortcuts, no stress. Each horse is brought along at their own pace, learning key skills like standing tied, hobbling, saddling, steering, stopping, and moving off leg with confidence. The goal is always to have a calm, relaxed, and successful first saddling and ride.
Whether you're preparing for the trail, the show ring, or just a dependable partner, I will help your horse build the right foundation for a successful future under saddle!
Whether your horse has been out of work for years or has an unknown riding history, my "Reboot & Ride" program is designed to safely bring them back into the rhythm of training. With a focus on clarity, consistency, and a solid foundation, we revisit the basics to assess where your horse is at--then build from there. From groundwork refreshers to saddle work and beyond, this program meets your horse where they are and helps them move forward with confidence and calm. Perfect for horses needing a second start or a fresh perspective!
An evaluation prior to the start of training is required. All training packages progress at the horse's individual pace and are structured to each horse's specific needs, while keeping a realistic expectation for what your colt will know and be exposed to by the end of the term. A minimum of 30 days is required, but 90 days is recommended.
